FOR CLEAN WATER AND AFFORDABLE UTILITIES
Protect Water Quality & Ensure Predictable Utility Rates
This November, Boise residents will be asked to vote on a bond to fund necessary improvements to our clean water and wastewater infrastructure. These projects have already been approved. The question for voters is how we pay for it? Voting “no” means an immediate increase of more than 50% to monthly sewer rates. Voting “yes” will keep costs predictable because it spreads the cost out over time, leading to an estimated increase of less than 10% for ratepayers. Voting “yes” also makes growth pay for itself, upgrades our wastewater infrastructure, and protects the health of the Boise River.
KEEP OUR WATER RENEWABLE
KEEP THE BOISE RIVER CLEAN
Regardless of the result of the water bond question, rates will increase to some degree, come January 2022. Voting yes on the bond means the average Boise homeowner would see an increase of less than four dollars to their utility bills starting in January 2022. Voting no means homeowners would see a much larger out-of-pocket increase of nearly $19 per month.
The improvements this bond supports will move our community forward. Our aging pipes, facilities, and other infrastructure need to be replaced and modernized. The bond funding is the most affordable way we build
a more resilient water system for Boise’s future, make sustainable water reuse
possible through a recycled water program, and prepare Boise for the growth we know
The Boise River is an invaluable resource for our city. It offers abundant recreation opportunities, protects fish and wildlife, and its health and natural beauty are integral to Boise’s identity. This bond funds projects that will protect and enhance the water quality of the river for generations to come.
